Tail Suspension

Price range: $1,595.00 through $1,795.00
Since its creation in 1985, the tail suspension test is a standard test of depression (Steru et al., 1985). The standard protocol is to hang mice or rats to the apparatus by their tail. An approximate measure of depression and the psychological effect of antidepressants is made by analysing the periods of times of agitation and immobility of rodent subjects. Escape-oriented behaviors are quantified during the experiment. The tail-suspension test is a highly validated test for potential antidepressant pharmaceutical compounds.
